Employee engagement has become a very popular management topic during the first decade of the 21st Century. Clearly, organizations are as concerned as they are with employee engagement, because they want to maximize the value they get out of their employees individually, as well as collectively.  All the while, professionals seem to keep returning to the same questions: “Does employee engagement matter?” and “Should we care?” Simply put, Yes…and Yes! Employee engagement matters, because work-related outcomes associated with engagement include reductions in turnover, increased job performance and overall well-being for employees. Moreover, Engagement has been associated with several important health and well-being factors, in addition to “bottom line” business outcomes. This session will highlight why employee engagement matters and the outcomes associated with employee engagement, clarify what engagement is and is not, and provide practical implications for increasing employee engagement, including some valuable take home points.
