Employee Engagement is clearly one of the most discussed and studied topics of the last few years. As the pace of technology and innovation continues to increase and the demographics of the workforce shift from baby boomers to millennials, engagement has become a critical sustaining factor for employers. In fact, it’s difficult to find an organization where employee engagement is not something being discussed in the C-Suite and even within the board of directors. Interestingly, the term employee engagement makes an underlying assumption that the person you are trying to engage is already an employee. However, this article explores the position that employee engagement starts before the person ever becomes an employee. It begins with the talent acquisition process.

Nominees may come from Talent Acquisition Service-Providers. Currently leads a large national or global function and has direct oversight for Talent Acquisition initiatives that have material/quantified impact on the business of his/her company. He/she will also have created, applied or advanced ideas and actions that benefit the overall Talent Acquisition community.
Talent Acquisition Specialist of the Year works in Talent Acquisition or the Talent Acquisition industry in the Chicagoland-area. Nominees may come from Talent Acquisition Service-Providers. Leads overall Talent Acquisition for a mid-sized or small company. Will have used his//her resourcefulness and scrappiness to achieve stellar results that are best-in-class without the benefit of a big brand or significant recruiting investment.
Beacon Award currently works in a Talent Acquisition function as an individual contributor. “Lights the way” for others in his/her function or the overall Talent Acquisition community. Initiates new or creative strategies to solve Talent Acquisition challenges. Will have impacted, at least incrementally, the business he/she serves.
