DeGarmo Webinar – Encore Presentation – Working Remotely: Paths to Success

Share

Join our encore presentation on  Wednesday, July 22, 2020, 1 – 2 pm CDT
Register today!

**This is an encore session for those who could not previously attend.**

*This session is pre-approved for 1 HRCI or SHRM business credit.

Presenter: Kathleen Melcher

Session Description:

Many employees and leaders have been thrust into working remotely (or working from home) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some may be working from home temporarily, while for others, this may be the start of an extended, or even permanent, new-normal. This can drastically impact employees as well as the leaders who manage them. Work is an essential part of our lives, and many of us find great pride and achievement in our jobs and careers. Having that work reduced, eliminated, or drastically changed disrupts the routine we have been operating under which can throw off productivity. However, having tools and suggestions for how to manage the change can help us maintain a positive outlook and successfully create a functional new routine.

What we hope to share in this session are some suggestions for both employees and their leaders for how to maximize the potential for being productive and eliminating the stress that comes with having to adapt to a sudden change in circumstances. We will discuss potential pitfalls for both employees and leaders to watch out for as they transition to working from home and share stories of success and personal anecdotes to help illustrate how to avoid – or overcome – these obstacles.

What will participants learn?

1)  How to identify potential pitfalls, and how to adjust to them in order to increase success from both the employee’s and leader’s perspective.

2)  Options to help stay productive while working under new/different circumstances.

3)  Strategies for keeping employees and leaders connected while working apart.

Who should attend?

1)  Employees who currently work from home.

2)  Employees who are likely to work from home in the future.

3)  Leaders who are/will be managing employees working from home.

April 2020

DEGARMO OFFERS FREE WORK-FROM-HOME ASSESSMENT

These are challenging times for organizations and employees. DeGarmo would like to help.

BLOOMINGTON, IL— April 2020 – As of March, many organizations and state governments have installed Shelter in Place directives causing employees to work from home—some for the first time. Employers are concerned about maintaining employee productivity and satisfaction, while employees are worried about burnout and job security.

In response to these directives, DeGarmo has developed a Work-From-Home Assessment to help coach and develop the existing talent that has been impacted by this crisis, and to identify and select new talent for those organizations still hiring. We are making this service available to interested organizations for free, through June 2020. This free service will include access to all standard features and functionality of DeGarmo’s Fit Index® assessment platform.

“Our hope is that through this free service, organizations will be better equipped to coach and develop existing impacted talent to maximize their likelihood for remote-work success, and if needed, prioritize job candidates for remote work opportunities who have the underlying behavioral traits to be successful.” according to Anthony Adorno, Director of Consulting Services at DeGarmo.

As part of this initiative, organizations will receive access to three DeGarmo modules for the Work-From-Home assessment. These modules include Selection for those organizations that are hiring new remote workers, Coaching that will provide leaders with individualized talking points for their direct reports, and Development which provides insights for employees on key behaviors to prioritize to be as effective as possible in a remote work environment. Thank you and stay safe and healthy during this challenging time.

Salo, LLC. – Building a Pipeline with On-Demand Recruiting

Share

In high-growth mode Salo was looking to increase their headcount, specifically the expansion of their business development team. In order to drive innovation and bring a fresh approach, Salo looked for candidates with atypical resumes than were usually considered for this type of role. The Business Development candidates sought after by Salo were those who are highly skilled in finance and accounting, which is challenging to begin with since many companies compete for talent with these critical skills. Additionally, potential candidates had to be open to changing from functional finance/accounting work to a people-centered business development role.

IHMVCU – Transparent Process & Seamless Implementation Impresses Client

IHMVCU had concerns regarding the assessment they had been using no longer meeting the needs of the business. “We had used the same assessment for over 10 years and it no longer fit our needs as our industry and organization had changed so much,” indicated Morgan Dunn, Senior Human Resource Specialist. IHMVCU also wanted the ability to customize the assessments when necessary for particular positions to meet the unique demands of the organization. “I love the customization that is available and the flexibility that the staff provides in order to make sure the products are working just as hard as the end users,” said Dunn.
